Hi there, this is my first time really working with wet media. I've done some washes with graphite drawings, and some oil painting in the past.  I used to hate colors, I dreaded the thought of thinking of looking at all the different values at different colors.  I think i'm well over that part of my life.

anyways, I used some Dewert Inktense Pencils.  I kinda like them, but I figured out that I would like to learn how to use actual watercolors.

oh yeah, the paper is strathmore 400 series; my last piece of scrap I had laying around from experimenting.  I didnt bother streching the paper I never planned on actually painting anything worthy.  I have some Lanaquarelle Watercolor Blocks on order so hopefully I can get back to practicing.

For a first attempt, this is very good. Your drawing
skills are good, which is definitely a plus for watercolor painting.
Don't be afraid to use color and remember to erase any pencil
lines you use in your paintings.

Hey, thanks Jim, as far as drawing goes, yeah I dabble, and doodle a bit.  I had a semi solid foundation and stoped drawing for a long time.  It might have been 8 or 9 years that I was out of the game.  I started doing some drawings last year to kind of re-familarize myself with everything, I cheated on everything I did and traced the pictures.  I used the exscuse that I was just trying to lay down the lines fast to get to adding values much faster. So this was my first real attempt at freehand drawing the planes and you know the rest is history.  About adding color, I'll have to experiment more, study more paintings by other people and just imerse myself in art.  I think the fear of color is that I dont always know what to do with it.  Anyways.....  My paper came yesterday so i've already began the think tank process of what I want to work on next, i'll keep you posted i guess.

Thanks again
