This is small - about 11 x 15. It looks like the ref photo, but I would really like to interpret the photo more creatively, and not just copy. For that reason the water is simplified. I would appreciate any C & C. Thanks for taking a look.

Joy, I love bright colors so I am naturally attracted to this duck. I love how you made your paints run into each other, and so forth (can you tell I don't paint in watercolor?)
But aside from the technique, maybe I can be helpful. For example, when looking at the reflection, there's a hard edge at the front of the duck, but hardly a distinction at the back. Maybe you can add some edge to the rear.
I can't put my finger on it, but it seems like there needs to be some variation in the water; maybe behind the duck is lighter (a graduation of dark to light), reflecting the sky, while this side of the duck is slightly darker because it is up close.

Joy, this is good so keep going!

Well done Joy! I like how you're floating different colors in each section, I would push it even further cause I think you're onto a break through. The water being simplified is a good choice, but it looks a little like it's not laying down so maybe the gradation already mentioned would help, or even hints of ripples that are not too contrasty would help to lay the water down?
Anyhoo, keep up the good work!

Thanks for the help; I know that the water needed some work and I really like your suggestions. I usually do too much and overwork the piece.
