You're amazing. Besides just being executed beautifully, you evoke so much emotion in your subjects. I love anticipating what you'll do next. Can't wait to see this one finished (looks finished to me)

Thank you! Once again, life is taking over so I'm finding it hard to paint every day but I'm toughing it out. I hope to finish this this week, lots of little details to get into! Pablo |

| Fabulous - do you use a variety of photos and do different value sketches? It is amazing that your work is so complicated and detailed, but never overworked or muddy. |

Beautiful Pablo! Love the bead details...hope you can carve out your 'art time'...hard for me too!
I have joked that my family are blond blue eyed 'white Indians' because we were in the Delaware valley since the 1600's and are supposed to have a few tribes married in...but soooo far back it becomes sort of legend. The 'legends' are Delaware (Leni Lenapi), Oneida... and my husband's family though Scotch and German have a story of Crow. Leni Lenapi means, The people, the people...or perhaps more correctly..."We, the people"...sound familier? One of my Quaker ancestors was the first person to read the Declaration of Independence in public for the waiting people outside in Phila... starting obviously with that famious phrase. Helps you see that we are all probably more influenced than we think by the early American cultures. |

| River, I live in PA, too. I was raised in NJ and all of the schools were named after tribes - Shawnee, Cherokee and my high school, Lenape. Thanks for the history lesson. It makes Pablo's painting all the more beautiful. |

Thanks again everyone! I really appreciate your comments. Joy, I take a lot of photos, using lots of different light, time of day, indoor and outdoor. For some things that's my primary sketching tool, I find that when I do lots of preliminary sketches, I loose interest, the idea gets over done for me and I don't want to continue to the final painting so I keep that to a minimal, that way, my initial idea and inspiration stays fresh, having said that, I love to sketch form life, you get much more visual information when you have whatever your drawing in front of you. In watercolor, I find the muddiness comes from using the more opeque colors or at least that's what happens to me. River! white indians! he he he, we get a lot of that here, I'm the lightest in my family, (I like to say I'm the white sheep of the clan), both my wife and I are too light to look Native, and too "bone structured" to look other, doesn't matter anyway! |
