I glazed over the ball twice with Payne's Gray. I don't think it's competing as much with Zeus's face. You were right, JBG. I like it much better. What do you think?

Lucie, I like the painting much better. Another suggestion..it looks as if the color in the rug is Alizarin. Maybe some of the red with sienna could be glazed onto the underside of the ball...bounced light. No pun meant! This would introduce some warmth and loose the ball into the rug. I don't use Payne's Grey because when it dries it seems to be flat. I unually make shadow colors with the colors on my pallette that have accidentally mixed.
