This is my first watercolor, which I guess I could have just done in acrylics 'cause I don't think it has the feel of watercolor. Is that wrong or is it just up to the artist?

BTW I rescued this dog from the Manhattan shelter where he was going to be put to sleep. I rehomed him and Zeus saved his new owner's life. He ended up on the tv show "Animal Planet". He was 8 years old when I rescued him. What a guy!

Great story and painting.  The watercolor application is very nice for your first.   The soccer ball and the face of Zeus may be competing for first place.  I suggest a glaze over the soccer ball to push it back and advance the handsome face of Zeus.

That's it! I knew that darn ball just hit you in the eye, but I didn't know what to do with it. Thanks so much for your help, JBG. I'll try that and hopefully won't wreck the whole thing

Lucie you did a good job -
IMHO you did to much :-)

You spend so many time on the carpet (or tablecloth?) A simple background with less colours /details would
work much better to support your dog

JBG, I'll give the ball a glaze and scan it again so you can see it. It may take some time. I'm having some problems with my computer.

I'm laughing, Egon, because there's no way this dog would sit on my table...it's a carpet. Actually, I thought the same thing myself after it was done, in reference to the busy background, but in the process I was trying to see how well I could control my paint. But I understand what you're saying and you're right.

Thank you both for your time.

You did a lovely job with his face and capturing his look. I'm looking forward to seeing the new version

Thank you, Justine. I hope you'll be able to see the difference in the change in the ball on the computer because it's ever so slight.
