OK, I'm working on about 10 new paintings, I just can't help but start new painting while I'm working on other ones, anyone else do this?  I like to paint on a couple at the same time while one is drying, I'll work on the other one which means I have lots palettes.  I also like that when I'm finally finished with the paintings, I have a nice body of work to show.  Here's one of my favorite flowers

This is breathtaking- great composition and use of color, especially the background. I've been told it is good to work on more than one painting at a time, so I need to try this to stop overworking.

How are you getting your posts in blue? I'm using a Mac OSX.

Beautiful! I look forward to seeing more of your work..........Yes, I also work on a few different paintings at the same time on occasion. It helps to get away from one from time to time and then go back to it with fresh eyes, I think.........Gene

Thank you for your comments again, I really appreciate them.
Joy, I'm about as techy as a frisbie so all I can tell you is that when you post a new topic, there's thingys at the top of the message window that has colors and font sizes and I don't know what else, I just press and click and hope it comes through. I'm trying to figure out how to post a little bit larger images on, I guess the ones I have are to big a file?
I'll be posting some new work soon! so make sure to tell me what you think and how I can improve!

Great painting. Like you I want to work on more than one painting at a time and I also work in more than one media too. But I still love watercolors.

Hi Duende
Great work. Glad to read that you work on many paintings at the same time. I too like to do it...just cannot wait till the water dries up.

Can't wait to see more - my forum reply does not have colors and sizes, but on Wet Canvas it does. Anyone else have this?

This is an absolutely stunning flower, beautiful color and detail.

I can't wait to show this post to my husband- he thinks I'm nuts to have more than one watercolor painting going at the same time. I'm always working on more than one, often many. He says that it's because I have ADD (attention-deficit-disorder) or something, but I was too busy starting a new painting to really listen to him. (ha, ha)

I used to feel strange about starting new paintings before finishing what I was working on then I met an artist who started a new painting every week (wether he needed to or not) and his paintings took anywhere from a month to three months to finish, that just opened me up to a new freedom! Now I don't care, I have too many ideas to not jump on them, they all get finished eventually and because I go back and forth, the ideas stay fresh and foster new ideas. Maybe we have artist's ADD?
Mainly, I do what works best for me!

Thank you Clarity. .. .I keep forgetting that being on the computer really means going global! New Zealand? !
Keep painting! Make lots of mistakes now so when you start making masterpieces, you'll know what to expect from watercolors!

How do you keep all your different palettes, with paint, fresh? I do several different works at the same time also, but get discouraged when my paints start to go bad.

Hi Neeci, how do you mean bad? dirty? or other? I've knows a couple of colors that have molded on me in the past cause I had them in a container that didn't let them dry out but that's about it, otherwise I just wipe what I don't need off and continue.

Excellent work Duende,
I wish I could work like you, but I'm restricted to time & space. The boredom factor is
something you don't have to deal with working on all those palettes at once. I admire
your ability to paint and to multi-task!

Thanks Jim, the biggest lesson I've learned from the kids so far is to create daily goals and then to breath when I don't accomplish any of them! Multi-tasking is the only way I can do anything around here!

Really lovely work.     Amaryllis are not the easiest of flowers to paint!    I think it is good to work on a few paintings at a time - you don't get bored!
