What colour is a silver coffee pot? It depends, doesn't it? I thought
you might be interested in the workshop I hope to lead later in October
with the above title. Here is my version for my students.

Thanks Sandeep, and I'll take that as a compliment! Of course realism
in watercolours is not everyone's cup of tea, and although I strive for
realism I don't look to reproduce the photo reference exactly. In
this instance I eliminated many of the reflections of my studio which
appeared in the shot. I also exaggerated the contrasts between light
and dark and punched up the colours a bit.
The discipline needed to do realistic watercolour still lifes can be
useful in other work you do. I'm new to this site as you probably
realize so I'm not sure about the rules governing references to other
sites, but my personal non-profit website www.watercoloursforfun.com
has many examples you might find interesting and helpful.

Jess:
I'd love to have you in my workshop, but I suspect you're a long way
from The Georgina Arts Centre and Gallery in Sutton, Ontario. Maybe I
can post some of the results in this site at a later date.

Love the reflective work John. Very well done. Amazing the number of colors in a silver set. Jim
