This is one of my first attempts at drawing, still life and water color salt treatment.  Hope to make it into a Christmas card this year. Have wanted to do that ever since I painted it over 10 yrs ago.

I think it would make a very nice Christmas card. Good idea! I guess you could print them yourself.

Hi

I liked the glass and its reflections. Should make a good Christmas card.

Have fun with making your Christmas cards. I've been doing it on for years using my home printer. They come out great. Sometimes I use a special paper that is already made for cards, other times I use simple card stock from Office Depot. I find that people really like them.......I am a bit puzzled with the perspective of the painting. Did you take the photo from an angle? I'm not viewing it right, I don't think. It's a nice painting, though............Gene

Gene..........you are bang on about the perspective.  It is already framed, and being basically lazy I didn't want to take it apart to take a picture. Soooooooo, I took it at an angle to avoid the flash reflection.

Thanks all for the nice comments, it was a big breakthrough for me when I did that one. A lot of people think the subject is just fluff, but for me it was the doing that was the big thing. FIRSTS are always great esp. if they turn out ok.

That's very nice for a first attemp, my first attemp was a disaster. That would definitely look great as a Christmas card. I make Christmas cards also but mainly for our friends and they anticipate them coming ever year.

First attempt? This came out really well. I have been thinking of doing holiday cards every year but never get around to it guess I am just lazy, can't find a good subject for all the different holidays my friends celebrate. These candy canes work for me.... they will make great cards.

heatherm.....yes for a first it turned out well, and was a great turning point for me. Until then thought I couldn't draw.  The candy canes came off my christmas tree, I threw them in the bowl, and later when I looked at them decided I'd try to draw them.  The drawing turned out well, so them I thought why not some color. Etc,etc.  I also thought it might be hard to come up with a picture every year. But recently have been thinking that friends and family would like just about any theme as long as it was yours, know what I mean? Anyhow, thanks all for the kind comments. Myrn
