A very simple watercolor. But it was inspired by all the trees now in bloom.

When WWII ended I was sent from the Philippines up to Japan for occupation duty.  After my wife and daughter came to Japan I bought some Kokeshi dolls (wood).  Looking at all the trees in bloom I decided to use the dolls for a watercolor.

Nicely done, I have seen many dolls like this. Cherry blossoms?

Heather not cherry, they are white.  They are whatever you want them to be.

I love the way the composition of this encloses the family in a circle, emphasizing the unity of the family, also the sky is handled so there is a feeling of air moving through the tree branches.
