Hi everyone, its a while since I was on this site, but I have just had this picture accepted for an Open Exhibition at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (in the UK) -my first attempt at an Open!    So I thought I would post it for your comments.      It is great being a part of this Forum and I love to see the work of others. Elvira

Hi Kruella.   I loved this poppy so much that  I painted it twice!   Once on a dark background and this one on a plain background.   Well spotted!   Elvira

I've seen this one before with a background.  I suggested the title: "Opium Dream."

Hi - yes, you are correct.  I did paint it twice - one with the background that you suggested should be titled "Opium Dream" - and yes,I have taken up your suggestion and it is going into an exhibition very soon with my local art society under that name- thanks.   I loved the poppy so much - that's why I tried it twice.   Good luck with your painting.    Elvira

Congratulations. This is a lovely painting. I, who am so in love with dark backgrounds, can't imagine this one any different than I see it here. It has such a light, delicate look to it. Very beautiful!.......Gene
