Hi Heather.... great observation... yes you are right , there are some problems around this area... I was going to fix it but thought no one would notice... wrong ... the problems is actually the crease line of the cheek... I haven't drawn it accurately enough... it needs to be fattened out more to make the cheek look fatter... this will put the nostril and the corner of the mouth in better postion... but they prob need adjusting as well.. I've already sprayed it so not sure if  I will go back and redo... now that you've noticed the problem I probably will  Thanks Bruce

Hi Bruce: Wow, that was the best portrayal of how a work of art is done that I have ever seen, whether it be pastel or whatever. I would never attempt to critique that one, since I've never done a pastel. It sure does give me the urge to try it. Thanks for your time, patience and efforts in posting it.

Wow, thanks for the tutorial. It was great going through it.

I am new to pastels but not new to art/drawing.

My question to you is what do you use to blend the colours in the face? Finger? Blending stick? qtip?

Cheers,

Michael

Hi Hal thanks for your nice comments... you're very welcome

Thanks for stopping by Egon.

Hi Michael, you're very welcome. I use colour shapers to blend the pastel... see pic

I am going to have to pick a couple up and experiment with them. What would you say would be the most essential colour shaper brushes to have?

I see you have a couple chisel points and a small taper point for detail work. What numbers would they be?
