Hi-
I just started working with pastel a little over a month ago. Here is a photo of my first "completed" pastel.
I'd really *really* like some critique so I may improve. I don't find there are workshops for pastel in my city, so I'm self taught through books and magazines.
And more recommendations for books and magazines are more than welcome.

Thank you for your time =0)

nelly.

ps. i don't know why the code popped up in the title. i'll need to look into that..

The colors are very nice. You can work more on the clouds.--- Suna.

nelleo,
I was like you, did not have any workshop trainging, all learn by books and other artists' paintings. Keep doing, you will get it. Good job for the first one.

Thank you Sandi and Suna for your comments.
It is rather hard finding anyone in my area that offers pastel workshops. I picked up a couple of books and will look around for me to learn.
thank you!

Hi Nelly, if this is your first in Pastel, just think what your pictures will be like later on, just relax enjoy and let the painting come out, learn to see, is what I told myself I to am self taught and have a book case full of books and it always seemed to me that they would tell you so much about composition, lines , and color, value and so on and on. I ust to get so mad, I would say just think I paid this much money for this book and they wont tell me things I want to know, so one day I was crying and my Lord spoke to me and said Bo you want to paint ? learn to see and paint what you see thro the books away, does a second grader read a book to color an apple or draw a crooked house or a loop sided flower? with purple leaves haaha you just put in a limb in your trees here and there and some bodies of the tree and go light on the greens some. I to am still learning to see. If Sandi can do thoes beautiful works then you can do it to. you just need a boost you go girl Bo
