Hi, Fairwinds,
I wanted to comment this work but did not have time. It's a very nice portrait. You got the likeness. One thing I noticed is the jaw needs a transition. Now looks like cut paper on the jaw and neck. Also, if I paint this, I wiould choose either one simple color value or full color. It looks like you wanted to express line and value and you did it well, but you put little color on lip and chip, it makes other parts looks pale, thus have a too white feel. But style is very personal. Keep it and get improve.

Hi Sandi,
Many thanks for your valuable critique - much appreciated....
Quite a lot of the colour was lost in the scanning, but I am eager to learn and appreciate any help I can get!
Thanks again - AL |

I agree with all sandi's comments. You have talent. I also scan in artwork if the size fits, but if you up the resolution on the scan to high quality, it can capture every nuance. If you have a photoshop program and use it to scan it will retain all the color...Keep up the good work. Nina |
