Just finished this pastel, on wallis paper, of tourist walking the streets making their way back to their cruise ships. It was a late evening, the sun was going down and the shadows in the downtown area were deep blue and elongated. Included a detail close up of one part of the pastel.

Very nice! In my own work, I'm starting to look a llittle deeper and question my subject matter to see if I can get more meaning and response from my paintings. This is a perfect example of what I need to see to remind me of how having people in an everyday setting can bring about an inward response just by choosing a time of the day that is dramatic. Not only do I praise your skill with this piece, I thank you for sharing it.

Thank you Kim for your kind response.  I carry a small portable digital camera with me where ever I go and snap a shot that is based purely on the moment.  Often I've been pleasantly surprise by these pictures once downloaded.  Many years ago I did a series of drawings that were based on looking down on the ground either while walking or talking to others.  Amazed by how many people like that series of drawings.  Anyway been trying to finish a drawing a week as my work schedule permits with such a busy summer thus far.  Again thanks!
