Both of these drawings were done on vellum paper one with thinner the other without. The two gulls on the beach were done with soaking the paper in thinner then drawing with pastels. Really enjoy this process quite a bit as it makes blending pastels easier. Typically pastels are not easy to blend and is discourage by certain teachers. The gull chick portrait is on vellum paper without any thinners. One thing about working on vellum is its transparant nature in which the background can show through. The drawing looks and feels different when you change out the background colors. Anyway its fun to experiment with pastels using various papers and fluids to keep a fresh prespective.
