I always ask the sitter not to smile, but the outcome always has a sad feeling, artist likes it, but not the sitter. Welcome comments. Thanks.

Sandi - This is a beautiful portrait - the model seems pensive but not sad to me. I can't help but compare i toyour rejected piece and it makes me think that the simplicity of this peice is quite a contrast. Your rejected piece is excellent but it almost feels to busy - my eye isn't sure where to come to rest - maybe some softer edges and another look at the overall values???Just a thought...I'd be pleased with it too. Sandi, this is another beautiful piece.
This just goes to show you that you can't please everyone.

All the best,
Jim

Your portraits are quite wonderful and bright! Are you drawing from life? What type of surface (paper) are you using? I look forward to seeing more.
