Did this one yesterday in record time-1 1/2 hours.  Got some photos from a relative who just got back from Ireland and they were happy to share them with me.  So, I am doing an Ireland series.  Let me know what you think?

This is beautiful! And so painterly! You are really good with color!

Beautiful colors and lovely painterly look. What is the paper and type of pastels that you are using?

Two things to think about. Never make the horizon line in the middle of the page. Also, the wood and shadow in the center of the land are just about in the middle of the painting. It would do this painting good to not split the painting either of these ways. Still - this is gorgeous and I'm looking forward to seeing more in your Ireland series.

Gals, thanks for your fab compliments!  I used sanded Art Spectrum 9 x 12 (which I am finding I really like best for pastels) and a combo of Rembrandt, Sennelier, and Schmincke.  I started off with hard Nu Pastels to fill in the background and built up the colors with about 6 or 7 colors of greens, brownish reds, ochre, and several blues for the sky.  Also used a light cream color and white for the highlights.  I didn't want to add too many colors and it all worked just great.  Thanks again for the comments and glad you like this!

Deb, fantastic!!! I totally agree with Michele on the composition/placement, however you surely excelled in the colors and texture just as she and Tami mentioned. Can't wait for more.

Thanks Kim!

I will take that in consideration next time, but in this one, I was just painting what I saw.  In the orginal picture there was a person walking down the path and I choose to just eliminate that part of it.  Possibly that would have changed the look, but I thought the scenery was prettier without the person.  Thanks again for the "fantastic" comment!
