Here is another attempt at an animal. Still working on lighting and values. Liked the photo because of the unusual expression. jjj

I think this is my favorite of yours - great job on the hair and face, along with use of colors to establish the reflections of lights and darks. You've got that squint down perfectly - super expression. Grant it, I don't draw or paint animals, but I'm wondering if his back isn't too low behind his neck. It could just be the angle. (Or is his rear too high?) Regardless, you've done a fantastic job.

Jay, I agree with Kim. This has to be one of my favorites (although the trout on the stump were very well painted!).
You might be just a little high on his hips, but Fox do have high hips like you've portrayed here. They are odd litlle creatures and they almost resemble a mix between a cat and a dog (to me).
One suggestion if I may? Open up your colors. Look closely at the photo reference and see the many, many colors that are there. Don't be afraid to use color in your work...there are a lot of colors there, you just need to find them. Your paintings will come to life by adding color to them.
Great piece!

I love the expression on the fox's face. I'm working on values and lighting too.
