I tried something different on this one and I'm not sure that I like the way that it turned out...I'm thinking on punching up the detail on the leaves closest to the apple a bit.

12"x18" on Richeson premium pstel paper with all Prismacolor pastels.

Hi Mike,

Your work has a quite good depth and 3D feeling.
The whole elements have the same level of realism - I thought about saying to make the apple more realistic but it might make the work unballanced.
I like the well balanced palette which contributes to unify the painting.
Maybe the stem could be a bit more punched up....
Now it's up to you to decide if you like the work as is in aesthetical terms.

Kind regards,

José

This is different, but I like it. I especially like the use of purple on the background and how the leaves blend into it. I see that you used a different paper for this piece. Is there a reason and do you have a preference? Thanks. Jay

Jose` thank you, and I agree with your C&C. I did however bring up the detail in the leaves closest to the apple and the apple itself, just to take the eye there faster.

Jay, thank you also! I try and use different papers all the time. This paper has a rougher tooth than the Colourfix so it allows more texture and seems to hold more pastel. I like it for this style of painting and it is a very good quality of paper. I also like the colors that it is made in!

I really like the way you've handled this. It has an abstract quality to it.
