Subject: Drawing or Painting?

Just joined this morning and I am excited to get your critique or feedback on my stuff as I can submit it. The attached is a drawing that I did this week and it inspired a question. I would call the attached figure study a drawing. Although pastel covers 80% of the surface, it is a restrained palette and somewhat loose to be called a painting. Here is my question: although officially, a pastel painting is typically defined by the 80% pastel covering the surface rule, wouldn't the style also dictate whether we call something a drawing or a painting?

To me a drawing does not constitute the use of color as you have done here.
You've also incorporated form, shape, depth and background. To me that equals painting.

We've had this discussion before (sometime last year, I think). I agree with Jim.....
it's a painting.
