So, I'm sitting in my studio struggling to get the center of this rose to read right and to glow as I'd like it too and I thought I'd take a huge step for me and ask everyone what they think.( Letting someome see a work I've not completed is scary to me.) The roses are laying on top of a string of pearls and they are all reflected in the silver tray thay are sitting on. I couldn't find the right color of the rose in my pallet so I mixed it right on the surface. ( It is amazing how many different colors I see in the melon colored rose!)... Did I over do it? What about the texture in the petals? My challenge with this painting is to show the difference between the pearls and rose and their reflections in the silver tray.... Remember it is not finished yet!!!!! |

Hi Suzanne,
I think you've done a beautiful job so far and don't think anything is overdone. I'm looking forward to seeing the final painting. Congratulations for taking the step and letting us see your work in process!

Hi, Suzanne! I like this very much, as I do all of your work! The roses both look fantastic and the pearls that are hiding back there are great. I don't know how you do it, but you do it well! I too can't wait to see the finished piece...thanks for sharing this. Mike |

Thanks Mike and Michelle. After struggling all day, "hearing" your comments will help me to put another hour or two in my studio tonight. I'm sure tomorrow will be so busy that I won't get any time in there. I've finished the roses for now and I'm starting to block in the silver dish, but I really want to work on the pearls next! Mike... What's next for you? |

Suzanne, Well, I need to fix ole' Samson. After that I plan on doing a pastel of some whitetail in a fall woods setting. My neighbor gave me a photo of the shop that was on our property way back when, and there is a 34 Chevy peeking out of the door with my neighbor sitting right outside the door. It looks like an interesting piece.... I'm thinking I'll do it also in the near future, but I'm not sure which medium I'll use on that one? I also have a picture of a rose from one of the arrangments that was at my dad's funeral that I've been thinking about doing in pastels...I know it won't turn out anything like yours, but I will do it someday....
How about you? Mike |

Thank you Gene... the refections are proving a bit harder than I had hoped but I'm still plugging along.
Mike... I'm thinking I'm going to need to do a landscape next... something other than red... I'm getting love on my reds and pinks! |

Beautiful colors...This is so realistic, I can almost smell roses when I look at your work. I can't wait to see the finished product!
