I was working at the gallery today and doing a demo of pastel painting.
This is what I did while I was there. It's from a photo of the beach on the Oregon coast. Let me know what you think.
Thanks!
Jim

Love the colors and the 'mood' to this, Jim!
The highlights in the water are very well done also...

I was wondering what happened to this pastel painting. Apparently someone put a painting up with the same name as I had this one labeled, "Oregon Coast". When that happens the original gets replaced! That sucks! I guess there is nothing that can be done about it, so just watch your posts and hopefully this is something that doesn't happen alot. Using a unique name would probably take care of the situation. Hope you don't mind if I move this one up so that people have a chance to look at it.

Jim

Hallo Jim,

Yes, this has something special - I think you have a very good 'eye '!
It gives me the feeling that the sea is draining away into the foreground.

You got it on the nose, Jim. Apparently someone posted an image with the same name as yours. Unfortunately, the only way for you to get your image back is to repost it with a different name. Did you do this (I'm not sure which image is really yours.)?

The one above is mine Holly. It's a painting of sunset at Haystack Rock, which is on the Oregon coast. I just changed the image name to Haystack Rock and it posted just fine.

Great, Jim. I love the colors and the striated ripples and reflections.

Hi Jim,
Your subject matter is just a few miles from where I live! I love it here. The sky and water is everchanging.

Hi Sandy!
Good to see you on here again! You really are lucky to be so close to this.
One of these days I have to make it back down there and hopefully stop into
your gallery.
Thanks!

This one fascinates me...I keep coming back to it, and I finally figured out why: it reminds me of when I surface from a dive and the water is right at my neck. My eyes adjust to the light and I focus on the beautiful ripples of the water. I've never exactly seen these colors, but your painting makes me imagine it very clearly. It's beautiful. Will you be going to the expense of framing it? It deserves one.

Hi Kim,
Thank you very much for your comments and very descriptive
view of how my painting affected you. Yes it is framed and ready
for sale. Hopefully at the Wooden Boat festival Mothers Day weekend.

All the best,
Jim
