Well, I finished it. Let me know your thoughts. It really didn't take too long to finish I just wanted a break from it while I worked on few other pieces...

Suzanne, thank you! I  greatly appreciate and value your opinion. I'm doing two pastel pieces that I am hoping to get in a show back in Colorado. One is of a draft horse and the other is of some whitetails in a fall woods setting. I've also started four oils, so I am going to be busy for awhile!

Justine, thank you also! It's so nice to hear good comments on this, being that it is one that I built and not one that someone else commissioned...just kinda validates my efforts.

Thank you, Kathy! I do like to use detail in my work...

Tinae, Thank you also! I appreciate your kind words! I feel I still have a lot to learn, but with all of the help I get from fellow artists on here, I'm learning more every day!

BecArt, thank you! Is there some of your work posted here somewhere? I would like to see it!

Jim, thanks! Just wanted to tie it all together and the tail on the word fox kinda came to me as I was lettering the panel. Some times this ole' mind works, some times it don't!

This is really nice and interesting and full of detail and fun!  And its a large peice!  Very nice and creative and well done.  You should find something to enter it in, it would do well.

Mike, no I don't have any work on here yet, but I should. I'll try to get some on here soon, but it might be a little while.

Mike, this is fantastic! You are really great with those pastels. I'm sure it will get into the shows. Let us know. I haven't posted anything for quite a while. I'm busy with an oil class and am too amateurish so far to want to post anything in oils yet.

Thank you, Mette!
Color is always good. I'm learing with every new piece that I do, that there are so many more colors hiding in there some where. It's fun to pull them out!

Hi Mike, New member - I really like your work. Reminds me a bit of "Wyeth" grass (Wyeth #2). I love to play with my paintings (and WIP) in Photoshop to adjust what I am seeing / producing. Maybe because I have a limited imagination. What you can do in Photoshop often exceeds what pastels can do but it still helps me as a tool. I took the liberty of making a few tweaks to see what you thought. I felt that the foxes were the main focus - I love the composition and the way that they draw your eye, so I shifted the car and grass in hue a tad more yellow. The contrast in the red of the foxes bring them forward as they are slightly hotter. I took the chroma down on the sky and darkened it to further shift focus forward to warmer colors. I brought the contrast up to make shadows a bit darker and make your form pop on the car. At the end of the day - these changes were minimal so I don't know if you would change anything, but it is fun to do. Not sure if the changes I pushed help or not but I always play this way with my paintings to see the "what ifs." It is a good tool to use on color, contrast, and masses (not so much with line except to maybe blur a line when you want to investigate a lost edge). Anyway, you have a great eye and a great palette to give age to your the antique "wreckage" in your painting. You also have a wry sense of humor. I really like this painting. Keep up the great work ! -Bruce
