Edit 5/10/08:
Here's an update to the painting.  It's the second picture below.

Original posting:
I think I need to work on the values in this one and get some more of the illumination that I see in the photo.  In the meanwhile, what do you think?  Thanks.

I agree with you on the values, Michele. I also think you need some more darks in the foreground...
Otherwise, I like it!

Michele,

I love the sky and think it gives the piece a nice feel, but I would also suggest some darker shades in the foreground. Otherwise it is looking very nice indeed.

Great job, Michele. You are one prolific painter! And everyone of them is very nice. Thanks for sharing.
I haven't been on here lately, because we are having so many competitions in the area lately. I'm spending so much of my time matting and framing my art. ......... I just got a painting accepted into a national pastel show, juried by Alan Flattmann. I am absolutely thrilled about that. I just hung paintings in a two-person show, also. Emptied my walls and have 24 paintings in a gallery in a nearby church. Many of the churches here in town have small galleries in them. It's a great way to get your name out there. But that national competition is my really big thrill.
Are you showing your work anywhere? I would think, or hope so. You do very nice work.

Michele,

Yes! I think the foreground really works now and the additional reflection in the water coming in from the left adds a lot of interest to the piece. Great job!

Gene,

Thanks for your compliments! Yes, I do whip them out sometimes. And then I go through periods where nothing happens, LOL. I'm trying to get into a habit of always creating at least one painting per week. The paintings I've been doing lately were color studies for a juried show. I submitted six, but they limited it to two. I just started the 11x14 paintings and will post them separately. Congratulations to you on your acceptance in the national pastel show juried by Alan Flattman! And for all the other showings you have going on. I'm not there yet as far as getting my work into galleries - hopefully soon.

Barry,

Thank you for your compliments!

Michele
