I have been away from my computer, art and this forum for some time.  But I'm back again and hoping to post more often here.  I started this piece several months ago, but encountered circumstances that took me away for a while.  Done with soft pastels on 9 x 12 Colourifx paper.  Your input is greatly appreciated.  I'm calling this one finished, but any suggestions will be considered for future work.  I love water lily/pad/pond pieces.  Thanks for looking.

Hi christine, I see you over at Wet Canvas! this piece has alot of great values, and vibrant colors!
The center of the flower, would go deeper i think if you cooled it down a bit, i know the sunlight
is hitting that area, but cool it down toward the center will help..
Good job on this!!

Hi Alicia. Fancy meeting you here!! lol Thanks for your comment and input. And for those who asked, on another post of yours, YES....Wet Canvas is the best learning tool I've ever found!!! I've been there a long time, lurked for a very long time before I jumped in and got my feet wet. I've never regretted it.

Christine, I think you would enhance your white lily by adding a lot of color to the white petals. Easier said than done, I know. But I am always being told that white is full of color. I always have a hard time using color and still making the white come off as white. But I know it can be done just beautifully. Thanks for posting this. I also love water lillies.

Hi Christine,

I agree with Alicia and Gene about the center and petals. I'd also think about adding some deeper color in the center bottom like a medium orange for depth and interest. Also, I think it might be good to add an even deeper green shadow on the leaf from the flower. From a composition standpoint I think adding a leaf or something on the right in the center of the painting would help move the eye around. Beautiful work.

Hey, Christine, I see you ended up over here, too! Looks quite good--you must be happy with this one. I think having the larger shapes in the foreground helps to give this one depth. Perhaps for the next one in the series you could consider a little more overlap of the more-distant leaves...adding even MORE depth.

Thanks everyone, for all your comments and suggestions.  I don't think I'm going to tinker with this one any more.  But I will keep all suggestions in mind for the next one.  Glad you liked it.  I'm pretty happy with it over all.  Thanks for looking!
