Hello! I have been lurking here at the pastels for a bit and thought I would join.

I am a member of Wet Canvas just like mrking! Hi mrking! Thought I would try another forum also...so i don't post over there so much that they become sick of me!

I paint mostly portrait and figurative work...self taught..and pursuing my career as

a professional artist..Thank you all for taking the time to look..

Wow!!
These are gorgeous! Very well done.
I really like your style. The combination of
tight and loose in the same painting. Thank you
for showing these.

Alicia, your pastels are excellent, and your using a technique that is very difficult to learn...and you are a natural. If you can do this self taught, why not consider going to a fine art school? You'd breeze through it. I checked out your website by the way, I was totally moved, I'm speechless...I hope you know in your heart how gifted you are.

Hi Alicia,

Welcome. Your work is absolutely beautiful. Have you submitted anything to The Pastel Journal's annual contest? I think you should as your work is outstanding with the style and personality that you show. (Edit:  I just looked at your site and see that you have already won numerous awards, including The Pastel Journal - congratulations!  And I see you teach, and also in the south, do you ever come near Alabama or Western Florida (around Pensacola)?)

Michele

P.S. Does joining Wetcanvas mean that one will become as good as you and Michael? If so, I'm doing it!

Hi Alicia,

I'm not into portraits yet, but I'd love for your input on my landscapes or anything I post. Thanks.

These are absolutely gorgeous, Alicia! Welcome to the forum...
Your style is something I've admired for years and hane always wanted to learn. It's so romantic, and there is so much feeling in it. I love it!

Hey Alicia,

Having your work here is great. So many painters that do not go to WetCanvas are missing so much.

As always, I love your style!!!

Your work is wonderful.  expressive and realistic, but with a lot of refreedom.  The free strokes in the background are great, and it all goes together.  You could look at it all day. Thanks for posting, us everyday people need to see things like this.

Wow! I dream of being half as good as you! Alicia, it's a real pleasure to have you on board and view your works. Keep 'em coming. You are such an inspiration to those of us who are self-taught.

Funny how all the WC refugees are ending up here! Good to see you Alicia and you, too, Mike!

I'll go have a look around... See ya!
