Canson paper (egg shell-smooth side) 6"x9". This was commissioned for a greeting card...not my usual style, but fun.

Very nice Mike! I'm glad I get to see more of your work. I can understand when you tell me that something I do looks a little flat by looking at this piece. I see a lot of depth. Gives me something to strive for. Keep 'em coming. jjj

Hi Mike,

Beautiful work. You're drawing skills are great and use of pastels fantastic. How long have you been working with pastels?

Thanks, to all of you!
I really prefer painting animals, but sometimes "ya gotta do what ya gotta do"...

Michele: This is my fourth or fifth piece that I've done in pastels. I really like working in them cause they're fast. I am a very impatient person(and, my work suffers because of that) so fast is good !

You did a great job conveying  the leather of the boots. I'm impressed that the original piece is fairly small and that it was only your 4 or 5th pastel piece! I used to work in acrylics until my first pastel piece. I love the immediacy and the versatality the medium holds. (I couldn't mix the paint fast enough for me.) I'm looking forward to seeing more of your pastels....

Thanks to the both of you!

Suzanne; I'm not sure exactly how many, I might have mis-stated the number, but I know that I haven't done more than six or seven. Anyway, I do like them , and since oils have been my mainly used medium, it really has made me apprecite pastels...ya kinda get the best of both worlds!
(BTW, it snowed all day here yesterday. Lots and lots of the pretty white stuff!  It's suppose to snow again on Sunday I'm sure though,  I would feel differently if I had to go out in it...been there done that)

very cool boots. every once in a while i see a painting of shoes in some fashion or another, i think they are always kind of intriguing because we hardly look at a person's feet, but sometimes a person's shoes & feet tell a story don't they.

Thank you, Justine. Not a subject I'd pick on my own, but it was fun. And yes, I agree with you on how shoes and feet can tell a story...

Reminds me a lot of some boots my daughter used to have. She wore them with everything!! That was before she started riding dressage and eventing . . . then it got REALLY expensive. Are the cards going to be for sale?

Sandy,
The cards will be for sale, however I don't know when. She is working on a specific line right now and the line is not completed yet...
