Hello Everybody!  Here is my newest painting.  I come alive at this time of year when the air is crisp and the leaves start changing.  11"x14" on Ampersand Pastelbord, Mt. Vision pastels.  Thanks for looking!  Paula

I love this time of year to Paula, and I really love the way
you have captured the colors and look of fall.

Good color hormony...nice full value range...I like looking at this one, though the tilt to the right of all the main character is a bit disconcerting.

Hi Paula,
A lovely painting. Interesting how much more vibrant the painting appears with the final touches that you put on your tree.

Very nice touch adding the blue space between the leaves, really made a difference, wonderful fall feeling, I like the slope also. Very well done!

I agree with Paula and Leon-the "sky-holes" in the tree finish the piece with vigor.

WOW this is great! I am heading to the Smoky Mountains in a few weeks and hope to do some drawings while I'm there. With the fall colors this time of year I think it is perfect for pastels. Thanks for the inspiration.

Paula, this is beautiful. It's inspired me to get to the studio and paint. Just came home yesterday from San Francisco and the Pacific coast. Took lots of photos, and bought a sampling of the new pan pastels and some of that new RtistX pastel paper as my souvenier, and am itching to try both. Thanks for sharing this one..................Gene

You were right you guys.  I couldn't stand the slat any more so I changed it.  Thanks for your comments.

Paula, very nice piece!    Thanks for sharing with us the before and after images.  Sky holes in the center tree and the outline of the forest on the right is great.

Love the sky color, what color did you use? I always want to make mine so light, but the medium blue is great and the rest of the picture is also wonderful!

Thanks very much Fisher and Deb!

Deb, I start out with a medium to a dark blue at the top and work down from there and go lighter and lighter.  By the time I'm done, the dark blue is usually a medium blue.  I scumble light pinks and light blues over the entire area, but not so much to cover all the darker blues.

Mount Visions have a nice variety of blues.

Patty,

Thanks for the info on the Mount Visions, but how do you get these pastels.  I can't find them for sale anywhere on the internet.  Do you have a source?  Please post it.  Just picked up some Sennelier blues and they are beautiful, but always looking for new things to try.

Hi Deb,

You can purchase Mount Visions at any of the big online art supply places like Dick Blick, Dakota's, Jerry's, ASW, or you can purchase them directly from www.mountvisionpastels.com

You will absolutely love them.  They are not too hard, nor are they too soft.  They are just perfect.
