Couldn't ask for a better subject to paint for one to get through the long wet winter months here in Ketchikan, Alaska.  While out for stroll early last summer I came upon several kids playing in a row boat at the Knudson Cove Marina south of town.  After snapping a few quick pictures of the kids playing in the boat I sat down to make a few notes in my sketchbook about the light and local colors.  Having just finished the painting this year I still haven't thought much about a title for the painting.  Not sure if other artist struggle to title completed art work?  Hope to have this painting framed by mid-July for submittal at a local art show which is held during our annual Blueberry Arts Festival in August. The painting is roughly 33 X 24 and was done on Arches water color paper.  Still may work a little more on a few highlights in the water. Thanks for any feed back.

Wow! Fisher! Really like this one! I love the water! I can just see the sun glinting off of it! I love the view point too! I would like to see a little more of the shoulder of the boy in the water, just for contrast. But it is beautiful! Nice job!

Not the whole shoulder, just a highlight

reisafp thanks for comment.  i thought the same for the highlight on the shoulder, perhaps even just a bit more of some highlights in the water...do you think?  struggle to know when to call it quit on a drawing at times.

This is very cool.
The water work is great, but I'm very impressed with the detail work on the boat.
Very well done!

Very nice. I also LOVE the way you handled the water. AND painted it green rather than blue. Great job. You do live in a pretty spot. Spent about a day there while on a cruise a few years back. Loved it. Good luck in the show........... Gene

Some reflective highlights in the water would give sparkle, and I agree about the highlight on the shoulder of boy in water, maybe even on shoulder of boy in boat too. Great job!

Fisher, you are being much too timid with the boy and the boat, which looks like a good drawing that's set in a painting of water. From what I've seen of your work, you can do better. There isn't enough depth inside the boat to make it believable, and the boy doesn't "pop" out enough. The composition is a difficult one, with an oval shape in the center at an angle. So it doesn't just sit there, you might try more emphasis on the boy in the water to provide balance --he's in the foreground and should be larger and show more contrast. A more defined cast shadow from the boat toward the boy (let it reach the boy) would also tie the two subjects together and solve the "bulls eye" problem, and haul some of those greens from the water into the boat. Be careful of getting too many spotty highlights on the water if you choose to add highlights there.
