This particular painting, Morning Marsh (2004), is still in storage awaiting additional funds for framing.  Drove down the road a few miles and started a pencil sketch which I then followed up with a photo.  Wasn't sure if it would make a good painting when I started, but in the end it turned out nice.  It was more an exercise or study with a newer pastel set my wife picked up as a gift.  (If the hperlink doesn't work let me know).

Your water work makes me want to paint a lake. The water and the RH side is fantastic. I only wish the RH background mountains had a little more detail.

mrking, thanks for the feedback on this painting.  There is plenty of water around here, no shortage living in a rainforest on an island next to the Pacific Ocean.   I should take the time to re-post some of my pictures with greater detail.

I like the way you captured the reflection of the sky in the water. Awesome. I can feel the peacefulness of that water.

Thank you Johanna for the nice comments.  It was a very peaceful morning the kind one wishes could be repeated.  It rains quite a bit here so it's great to wake up to a rare event like this one.

I'd blur and perhaps lighten the mountains into the distance a bit, not add detail. They are not the focal point. The real story is in the water, and it is great water. The violet gives it an artic but warmer feeling against the cool green of the grass and dark mountain on the right. For all I know, it's freezing out, but I'd stick my toe in it just to find out

Thanks Sorensen for the comments on the painting.  Think your right about blurring the mountains to the LH side I'll try that this weekend as its still in storage.  The water is about 45 degrees around here most of the time, although the shallower waters can be warmer.   Some of the locals especially the individuals who have been born here seem to get along with the cold waters. Can't tell you how many times I've been in these waters either by accident or was a part of my training in the past.  I'll stick to just dipping my toes for now.
