While I have the courage, I might as well show ya'll my 2nd third pieces and see what ya'll think of them. Don't have my 1st piece here.  I peeked in on ya'll for a couple of months now, that is what got me started on trying pastels, but didn't have the nerve to show ya'll any of my pieces when I got them done.  The artwork I see on here is so far above my caliber, but looking and reading the critiques that you give each other has been a good learning experience.  I have learned alot by just doing that.  But if I am going to do pastels I want to get better so I need all of your expert advice.  So here goes:

The truck is my 2nd piece from a photo taken of a truck left rusting in a field.  The 3rd piece is a "plein air" study done at a friends house.

HI, I am new here too, so I guess, I will be the first to reply (I will be posting my pastel this week for everyone to judge, so you can get me back then. I think the Truck painting is absolutely gorgoeus!!! I love your use of colors! You don't look like a beginner at all! I am not so sure about the landscape. I am not a landscape person, though, so my opinion is not real valid. I just feel that the trees seem a bit thick in the trunks. But it is hard to tell because the photo is blurry. I think you need the advice from people who know landscapes, I don't really know what to recommend, sorry! I could be completely wrong on this one too! What does everyone else think?
But you definately have talent! Keep painting!

Hi Shaybass....

I agree with Reisa's comments about the trees. They are a bit thick. I would love to see them AND the grass colored a bit darker. The colors in the path and those BEAUTIFUL pink flowers are so vibrant, that it makes the rest of the picture seem unfinished.

The truck....is wonderful!!!!! I wouldn't change a thing. The colors, the detail.....just fantastic!!!
