Hi Anna,
I did just that. I added some blue highlights to the bird and the water.
Thanks,
Jim

Nicely done Jim. I happen to agree with the rest. I would soften or light the background so that the bird could be the main focus.
I found with I first started with scetching and painting that I felt I needed to work with photos. I think photos are a great tool. As I am learning more. I find that photos don't give me the depth or dimention that I want to see while working. When I am working with photos its hard for my to stray and be creative. So now I am learning to take from the real thing if I can. Trouble is. Things like birds don't sit still long enough. So we need a helping hand or a very sharp vivid memory. I love the bird. I could see him in my feeder munching on some bird seeds.

Thank you Johanna,
I try so hard not to be a slave to photo's, but it's harder than it seems.
I really need to do some plien air painting just so I can get a feel for a more
realistic painting. I'll wait till it warms up a little bit.
Thanks again,
Jim

I agree with Anna. I think adding more blue to the bird will make it stand out more. Nice work!

Thanks Jess for your comments.
The blue does help it stand out a bit.
