Do you mean fading out around the bottom part?

Nicely done Heather. The fur looks so soft and the eyes are brilliant. Good paper color choice.

Thank you, she is fun to paint, so many expressions, this one is when she wants something, she meows and gives me this look as if to say "please pamper me".

I love it! I only hope to be able to do half as well as you with pastels. I really enjoy working with them. You have the fur, the eyes and little nose just perfect.

Heather, very nice, I know how hard this is! You have done the fur and eyes very well, is this your cat? I am asking because I have found painting things I know easier, and I struggled so on the cat photo I had... You really did this well, it looks like a photo!

Thank you Suzanna, I appreciate the comments. As you do more pastels you will get where you want to be I am sure.

Anna, Thank you. Yes this is my companion Isis, she is a ragdoll with Siamese markings (bluepoint) she has very long hair and is like a puff ball. She demands to be brushed at least three times/day, if I ignore her (she has different meows for different things) she will get on the shelf and fling the brushes onto the floor, I can hear them clatter from the other room, and stalk back and forth with her tail in the air.

Your work is very nice. The eyes are great. I know that fur is a difficult to capture, but you have done a wonderful job there. I do agree that maybe fading the bottom edges would give the viewer any idea that there was more to the cat.
I would like to ask a favor. I have been unable to get any of my work to load since I joined the forum, but I have a piece that means a lot to me on yessy.com, called Hope Eternal. I am hoping to use it in memory of a friend ,(who died of breast this past fall), as a fund raiser. Please, please anyone out there go to yessy.com and type in my name Shana Cochran and my work will come up. My e-mail address is pharmark@tekwave.us,I don't know why my work will not load on this forum, but I have try at least a dozen times. As a struggling fellow artist I will deeply appreciate any feed back. Thank you, scochran

Heather, this is just lovely! And you seem to have captured the personality of Isis so well! Great work on the fur. Is this done on Art Spectrum paper? or Canson? I ask that because of the brilliant blue background that I believe is the paper, right? You have just the right amount of color in her white fur. And those blue eyes! Are they really that blue? I have a granddaughter who has eyes exactly that color, and everyone is always asking me that question when they see photos of her with those eyes so blue. You did a great job on this....................Gene

Gene,
Thank you so much for your comments. Yes, this is Art Spectrum paper, the background is untouched, I wanted simplicity. And yes, her eyes are a turquoise blue, people always comment on her eyes when she looks into the light. Of course, when she is attacking my foot, her eyes go black because she is on the prowl, and the fur on her cheeks puff out like a chipmunk and the fur around her neck puffs making her look like a lion with attitude. She does have personality to spare.

This is very nice work. The image is so realistic. The fur looks like you can reach out and touch it.
I'm glad you decided to finish it.

Wow Heather!!
This is amazing work! Everything is great. The eyes have it though.
I like the floating affect this has. The blue paper is great really sets
the whole painting off.

Heather, Wow! Just beautiful. Like Ron said, the fur is so realistic and the eyes are just beautiful. How nice that the subject is part of your family. I haven't tried animals yet. I'll be needing more courage before I tackle that. I hope when I do you'll be able to give me advice. Isis is beautiful.

Diane,
Thank you for stopping by and your welcome comments. Whenever you need advise, myself and others will be happy to give it to you. No point in having knowledge if we don't share it. Have the courage to try, you might be surprised at what happens! Pastels are fun to use, not so much mess to clean up, and animals have their own personality.

I've shown this one to people at work and they are just blown away
with what you did. I can't believe how many " Is that a photograph?"
comments I got on this. This level of work is something to shoot for.

Thank you Shana, I am glad to see you finally got your work posted so we could see it.

Jim, thank you so much for the support and showing it to your coworkers, their (and your) comments mean a lot! I am putting her in the art show next month.

Donna, thank you very much for you comments and stopping in to look.

I thank everyone for their encouragement, I was a little down after being dissatisfied with a couple of my paintings, but all your comments and encouragement have given me the lift I needed!
