Love this painting The skin looks fantastic. Love the use of white space here. My 1st thought.....I think Noah's wife would have been quite a bit older. I'm pretty sure they had grown sons with their own families on the ark.

| I agree with the thought about Noah's age. If he was as old as he is often represented in art, why then, I would hope this is NOT his wife! But, all of that aside, this is a beautiful portrait. Did you say it is your first? It's a lovely painting.........Gene |

Yes... I know that she looks a bit young, but being 45 myself, It was a pleasent thought. Yes this is my first portrait. I am still working on bringing down her face shadows to get the same contrast as the chest. Thanks for the kind words. |

I think the Holy Spirit came down in the form of a dove. Maybe name it something to do with that. I can't believe this is your 1st portrait!!!!! Incredible!

First portrait?!!! Wow! You did an incredible job; she's beauiful (even if she's too young to accurately be Noah's wife ) Way to go, Dave. |

why should noahs wife be old??? i love the fact that she is youthful!...and eh, ten years your senior? i can appreciate her beauty....wonderful image...whites are incredible when placed together.....there is so much variety! i find that when i do lighthouses, the towers are not simply white...but vary beautifully.... and? i love adding a touch of naples yellow to my whites, it makes them glow...just as you have used the cool ranges here....dont be afraid to mix that range up a bit ....maybe touches in the dove... you have the warmth of her fleshtones, but everything elses temps are cool....sometimes it pays to mix those temps up a bit more....
there are, if you truly wish to change the title....other choices....what about the greek goddesses? "Artemis is the daughter of Zeus and Leto and the twin sister of Apollo. She is a nature goddess but also a goddess of the hunt and wild animals"
"Panacea, Minor Greek goddess of health" "Athena, the Greek Goddess of Wisdom" then ya have Aphrodite, and soo many others??? her clothing even suggests something in this area too?? |

Damn fine job sir! The subject is beautifully rendered from the background to her loose hair. The only thing I would change is the title. "Asking for Peace", Praying for Peace"... Something on that order.
The cub and the butterfly are well done too. I look forward to more of your work. |

I kinda like the name. Remember that Noah lived to be 950 years old. He was only 600 years old when he built the ark and he only had three children. Most people I know still look pretty young after only three children, so who knows. As for the portrait, it's an awesome job. Composition is good, focal point seems well placed and the attention to details is excellent. It has a very relaxed feel to it, not stiff. Love the looseness of the hair and the skin tones are nice and fleshy warm. Keep it up. Peggy |
