I feel -
This is incredible just as it is,
Maybe just a 'touch' more work on the nose,
whatever is on the neck (collar?) forget it -
keeping it simple,
even worked back from the feet and legs -
it is just beautiful
However with your expertise you know that.
The softness, colors, and simplicity, with just his eyes
says it all - 'Incredible Presence and Calmness of Spirit.

third times a charm...ehhhhh i hope!...i am having trouble trying to update winston!

thank you all for the positive feedback! muchly appreciated...i am really enjoy this beautiful animal soooooits really not work...shsssssssh..

i had opted not to put in his choke chain, but i did keep the worn leather collar, a nice muted red, i thought it might add to the color in the painting...

normally i dont put em in, leaving the animal more freee...but this dog adores his people so its more a pride of ownership for winston!  this dog? rides in a side car with goggles on too...lol...

I would love to see him with his googles on.
Your first image had a softness and brighter light around Winston
that I loved the feel and color of.

Goggles!? What a riot! I'd love to see a picture of that! I agree with Connie.....I'd darken up the nose just a little bit and then call it done. I really love that warm background. Beautiful work!

morning!....aw scoot thank you so much... your such a sweet pea!...ya touched my heart this fine cold morning up here in the north!...

and another big ole thank you for all my fellow artists that have said such kind things here.....

winston is nearly done...i will take a hard look at him tomorrow, and touch and dab where its needed and then sign hm....

i slipped a frame on him just to see how the color looks, i will offer it to my customer if she likes the match, if you would like to see him framed, cause if i tried to post it here, the site would force me to make winston far toooo small to see!.....so in the gallery section of my site, go to works in progress and if you wish you can see him in the frame, eh..and let me know how ya feel about the match!....

there are always paintings that you just dont want to end....you figure okay i will just paint him again and again...and winston is one of these..just like when i finished ~clan mother~...i just didnt want the painting to be finished so i could enjoy the work...

I had a Chocolate Lab as a boy, her name was Candice. Of course we called her Candy. I assume you'll focus on the face and leave the rest a little "dreamy"? Nice work OWS. Love the nose!

morning jim!
yep exactly......its how i really enjoy painting...finding that focal point and snagging the viewers eye..
letting the rest softly fade out...

its so funny, like everything in life, each dog has a different face....and winstons face is just so handsome...when i was researching i found that like people? there are some odd looking faces in the dog world too!...lolol...
