| Here is a 9x12 I finished a day or so ago. It is from the coast of Kinnebunkport Maine. Comments critiques welcome. |

Very nice work Heather. I love night beach scenes. I like the way the moon is situated above the hole in the clouds, like it could fall through at any time. Jim

Hi Heather,
Wow, Just like in a dream. I can imagine sitting there in the quiet night on the beach lonely and dreaming... Very nice painting.

Hi Jim, Thank you very much, the photo doesn't do this one justice, it really looks so much better IRL. And yes the position of the moon was over the hole in the clouds, I didn't make that up.

Anna, Thank you, it was a quiet night and i could hear the wash of the waves as I studied the scene and did a quick sketch so I wouldn't forget the composition and the main parts of it. It felt like the beach here where I live, I often go down in the dead of night just to sit and listen to the waves etc. |

I like the moon and its reflection. I can also see the storm coming?
A beautiful and mysterious piece.

Thank you Frank, beautiful and mysterious is a lovely compliment. I really love the coast of Maine for seascapes.
Someone bid on it today on ebay, that means it is sold, and it still has 4 days to go so maybe there will be more bids. |

| Good to see you painting and posting! I really like your palette. The piece has depth and balance. It's hard the be both subtle and dramatic on the same canvas and you've captured just that. |

Jim, OWS and Sandeep, Thank you so much for your comments. I am so delighted that everyone sees something in this painting. I just love the sea! Portraits and the sea are really my favorite subjects. For years and years I have sat for hours studying the sea, the way the waves curl, the splash on rocks, the light and shadows etc. Same with portraits, I catch myself studying strangers who have interesting faces and have to catch myself so they won't think I am being rude. |

Anna, You hit the nail on the head! I have been meditating more than usual to control the pain, and I think I have hit the "zone" all day every day because of it. My typing is awful, I don't want to cook, so eat frozen dinners, use paper plates etc so have almost no dishes to do...... all I do is paint, take a break, paint, take a break etc. I use my loud timer in the kitchen and set it for an hour, then force myself to take a 10 min break. I keep having these paintings floating in my head, both atmospheric and fantasy, my eyes are popping right out of my head! They are demanding to be painted and very demanding to paint being so small! I am enjoying this so much, haven't been this productive in years. |

| Heather, my heart goes out to you that you have to deal with this constant pain. But, I do know about the zone, and there is a peace there. I am glad that you have that place to go! Keep up the good work! |

| Thank you Anna for your thoughts. But it's okay, I have a better life than a lot of regular people. I live in my dream area (on the ocean), doing the work I love when I can (painting), have my constant demanding mistress (my cat), my life is blessed. |

| I love night/dark paintings, and this one is no exception. The cloud "bridge" in this painting really captures me for some reason. |
