Hi Anna, Your work would never put me to sleep. Your sense of values and how to proportion them to a painting are good. I like your composition. The painting feels vibrant, full of life. I like your painting. Leon

Geeeeeez! You work is just amazing! Every painting you've posted is wonderful. The cabin is right on. As usual...your foliage looks great! And I like the soft way that you painted the water. Love it!

Very nice work Anna. There just seems to be something strange about the waterline. Is the water flowing? It looks like it is and whats strange is that the boat seems to be still and sitting perpendicular to the water flow. You have great colors in this work.

Hi Leon, Jess, Jim.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm very happy that you like it.
Leon, -How are you? -Hope you get better soon. Take care.
Jim, -Thanks for your input. -As for your river's flow comment. My intention was to render the choppy water against the shore line. Do you have the impression that it is flowing toward the viewers? If that is the case then yes, The boat should be pointing toward us and not perpendicular to the shore. Please let me know if this is your impression. DOES ANYONE SEE THE SAME THING? Thank you.
Anna. |

| To answer your question, yes it looks like the water is coming toward the viewer, to have the effect you want the waves should be painted vertical on an angle with the land, not horizontal. Beautiful painting and lovely rich colors. |

hi anna...a very nice painting....but i dont feel as though the water is heading towards the viewer as much as i feel its horizontal to the painting? a lil bit more of punching up your values/darks and lights would help the depth in the distance a bit...more vibrant colors nearer the viewer, less intense as the landscape recedes from us... |

Hi Jim, Heather, Ows and everyone.
This is the updated one.
I added a boater rowing away from the shore.
Thus making the perpendicular position of the boat to the shore line more believable.
This is simpler than changing the deirection of the flow of the water.
In addition, I also made some value changes to the painting.
Anna.

The composition might be better if the boat/canoe was coming towards the viewer. I like your vibrant colors. |

| Funny how everyone sees something different; I liked the compositions before you put the person in, it gave the bit a mysterious. There are some shadows falling to the left of the building and fence post, but nothing under the tree or boat. Very nice colors, really like the tress in the background, very stylized. scochran |

| Anna, This is a wonderful painting! But, if several different eyes have been confused (or are spending way too much time on the right corner) I don't think you are doing what you wanted with this... maybe I am wrong but you captured a cool Fall day, with trees and a cabin, the colors are beautiful and the coolness of the day comes across, may I be so bold as to suggest that you take away the confusion alltogether? Take the boat and the person away, and darken the water, then the eye will stop ending up in that corner and spend a slow languishing time in the rest of your wonderful painting! And... you sure didn't put us asleep, you woke us all up! Nice Job! |

Hi Richard, Shana.
Thank you for your kind words.
Hi Anna,
I think you make a good point here. I am going to take away the boat and even the water. Below is my new composition (I did this quick modification in digital format only)
Please let me know what you all think. I will come back to work on it at a later date since right now I am busy on a few commission paintings.
Thank you so much for your input. Anna. |

| Anna, I really like this much better. The whole painting now has a uniform richness of color to it. Happy painting on your commissions. |

| I was about to comment that I agree with Ann (Bluiz) about taking the water and the boat out. Then I scrolled down and saw the third rendition. Voila! Perfect. Frame it!!!! Gene |
