This is my first painting with oils since high school. I had some trouble with details and didn't made them. This paint is water soluble oils, 50x70cm. on canvas.

Suna, I think you've done a fine job.

I know it's rough returning to oils. You think the paint colors will be the same but they turn out a little different. You've done a fine job. It might be the scan but the sky could use a little more color.— Kathy

Nice job. Maybe the red color in the middle ground could be a little less saturated by adding a little green to the red. This much hot red tires out the eyes. And as Kassie suggested, the sky could use a little more color.

Thank you all for the comments. It seems hard to make details for me, I don't have enough patience. I made this from a photograph and the colours were like this. I made the sky blue at first, but later covered with white. The grass is too red, I know. It could have been better to put some green in it, thanks Phil. I will start a new painting tonight; yellow roses in vase . I painted this subject before with pastels, and I didn't like it, now I will try with oils. This is a hard job.--- Suna.

Suna - I have missed seeing your around for the last several weeks - now I know why! I really like the reds in the grasses, but then I'm a color junkie - I just can't seem to get them into my paintings! I would like to see some more color in the sky, like Cathy and Phill said. This is fantastic for your first attempt since high school! The switch from pastels to oils is a big jump. How do you like working with the water soluable oils? I have not tried them - I have not tried oils at all in a lot of years, too - I don't think the water soluables were even around when I last used oils. Love this picture, Suna.

Holland, Thank you. I still don't have my printer and that's why I couldn't paint the ''cozy kid''. Later I will join again. Jumping from pastels to oils is a bit difficult for me. I didn't paint with anything except pastels for so long. Water soluble oils are very nice to use; it's clean and healthy. I started a new painting with them, and will try to make some details Details are very easy with pastels. I have to work hard with oils. I don't want to change this painting, but try to make the new one better.

Looks nice. I don't see any problem with detail here. The painting is lacking in movement though. Nothing too serious but there isn't much line of vision. Maybe adding highlights in the grass/bushes to direct the eye could help.

Thank you Bright Eyes; I will remember what you said in my later paintings.
