| This is a 15 x 30 oil on canvas. I painted this picture from a photo that I took when I visited Japan. The subject was so pretty and universal that I couln't resist it. I have just completed this painting and it is still on the easel. Would love to hear all comments. I painted this as best I knew how and found it a rather difficult subject. The mother's face is the center of interest and the most important part of the painting. Tell me what you think'
I've made a few changes and hope it works better. Here is the painting as it is now. |

| Her face definitely is the focus (she glows with love for her child!) and you did an outstanding job on this painting. I can't really judge the baby since this is small on my monitor, but I think this is one you can be very proud of. The textiles are incredible. |

Really excellent work Phil! The facial expression is very well defined and the baby's blanket is just great! Thanks for showing this! |

| beautiful! Love the colors. Her face is really beautiful and I love the sunlight on her face. However, wouldn't it carry more of an emotional appeal if she were gazing more at the baby instead of beyond? |

I tried to bring up both earlier version and finished version but I can't seem to get them both. Maybe the names are too similar and I would have to rename one of the files. Anyhow, the above version is the finished version and once again, I would like your comments.

| I love this! Looks like she is on her way to show off her little bundle of joy to the world! You did a great job with the movement of light in this. Impressionistic with a modern flair. Works very nicely. |

| I'm sorry that it doesn't show better in the small photograph, but she is gazing at her child and not into the distance. I take lots of digital photographs and work very hard on them so that they look like the painting in color and detail, but when they are reduced in size and resolution to post them, they lose a great deal of the original. And thank you for your comments. |

Very nice painting, Phil. Just a minor suggestion and as you say maybe this suggestion is already in the painting but got lost in the transition from camera to jpg. I think you could lighten the dark behind her hair just a little. On my monitor the values seems too close. Kathy |

Kassie, Thanks for looking and commenting. Although the background is deep in color, it isn't as deep as the hair. I just gets lost in the photograph. The painting itself is much more beautiful than the rendition here.
