| We have done mostly scenery/landscape for the last 3 challenges - and landscapes are my comfort zone. So I looked for something different, something that would give me more of a challenge, and perhaps to some of you also. It is from the Wet Canvas library, and I'll give the link to the image so you can get a larger version. Good luck to all & happy painting!!

Hi Nan,
What a beautiful photo. But a real challenge with all the shades of yellow! I may have to buy more pastels to get more shades! I am looking forward to tackling this.

Nancie - great choice. I have only done 'one' flower painting before, so I'm looking forward to the nice bright colours of this one. I just might have to do this one on a larger canvas (for keepers). Kassie - did you want to choose #5 for us for next week?

Maggie, Do I just tag it on the end of this thread? Or do I submit to the administrator? Kathy |

| Hi Kassie - Just tack it on at the end and then make another thread for the challenge. Hope you don't mind me asking you to do the next one. Take care. Maggie |

| Nancie, i love the bright, cheerful photo for this challenge. Anyone who has has seen my work knows that i have done a lot of sunflowers, so i am going to use this challenge to see if i can come up with a different composition. |

Hi Guys,
Well this was a big challenge for me. And sizing it to get it under 100Kb was even more of a challenge! But here it is. Pastel on 9X12" LeCarte.
I am enjoying the productivity and seeing everyone's entries.

Well, guess I failed the file upload test again. Not sure I am going to be able to master this.

I've seen this on the W/C reference library and admired it. I'm busy with other things now, but they'll just have to wait.. this is just too tempting, so count me in on this one.

Hi Barb - don't give up. What are you using to reduce the size of your picture. To give you an example - Pixels - 250 x 300 approx, Inches - 3 x 4, or cm - 10 x 12 shud do it.
Glad you can join us Bill. |

| Barb - also check your image name. No spaces & avoid special characters like * ( ) ^ # \ |, etc. That may be stopping your upload. Also, I couldn't even get on the site last night - I'm guessing server problems maybe (could have been my ISP). Anyway, don't give up!! |

Thanks Maggie and Nan,
I was so frustrated yesterday. My file size is 88Kb but the name has spaces in it. so here goes again. |

Nope ...not working.
Here's a smaller file 55 kb but I think it will be small.

Okay, they are all not working so I guess I just don't understand. I am using Microsoft Picture Manager to resize, maybe that is it. I did scan last time rather than use a photo (although my photo says it is 72 dpi), But scanning is a bit messy with pastel. Anyway, at this rate it takes me longer to resize and post than to do the painting. So I shall paint along with you but not share my work. I am so happy you have gotten me to do a painting a week! Keep choosing great and different photos.

Hi, oil painters, I don't do oil painting (at least not lately) but I would like to submit a pastel painting. This weekly challenge is a great idea to get people busy. My painting is 7"x9" and is done on gray charcoal paper. Thanks for the opportunity to participate!

Wow, these are great! RPartin - great job - your vase looks very 'glassy', if there is such a thing. JT32 great colours - bold and welcoming. Hopefully I will get mine done by tomorrow night latest! I find this very informative, because now I want to go back to mine and give it a bit more life!
