Wow, you folks are cookin'! I love that you're continuing these weekly challenges. I'd be happy to set up a new All-Media Weekly Challenge forum. Let me give the organization some consideration. Am I right in assuming that you'd like the photos to be selected by forum members (as opposed to me). Seems that would give you more ownership of this great idea.
Tell you what--if you're interested in submitting a photo for the weekly challenge, send me an email at artistsnetwork@fwpubs.com, and I'll make up a schedule.
Meanwhile, have fun with this challenge right here. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Hi, Holly, This set up for a second challenge should work well. Thanks for the clearer picture. I started my drawing for an oil painting. I hope I can finish it by the end of the week. Did we decide on what beginning and ending dates would be? Kathy |

| Here is mine. Had alot of time the last two nights (unusual). It was a bit of a challenge because i have never worked on canvas board before (even so small - 10 x 8). Found out you need to add oil to your paints - much different than working on regular canvas. I actually liked working on the board. |

Maggie - great painting! I will use it as inspiration. I've only sketched mine so far, starting with paint this evening. The day job is just more demanding that usual right now - I"d rather be painting, tho. LOL! -Nan

Maggie, This is a charming rendition. I'm half way done. I'm glad we have til Sunday. I'm sure I can finish by then. My problem is my illustration background. The details get in the way. I hope I can let go of some of the details. |

Maggie, I think you did a great job with a difficult subject. Your perspective is spot on.

| This challenge was difficult for me. This isn't my normal type of subject, and I struggled with it for quite a while. But I kept at it, and came up with this simple painting. Not one of my better ones, but I feel satisfied that I didn't back down from the challenge! It gave me a chance to focus on shapes and work with shading a bit (something I should do more of). My weekend is planned and I probably won't get time to work this more, so I will submit it now. It is done on 10x8 stretched canvas in acrylics. Looking forward to seeing everyone else's work. - Nan |

Hi, Nan. Good for you. It's amazing how you got all the buildings working together. I just had to wipe out one of my buildings. Oh well, I'll persevere . I usually avoid pictures with lots of buildings like this. But we all gotta grow. Kassie |

Nancie - this is great. You captured a certain calmness of the picture. I really liked your figures and the walk. Very well done. I find the forum does challenge oneself if you let it. I can't wait for the next one!

Great job Nancie. I finally got mine done at the last minute. When I posted this challenge, I had no Idea it would be such a challenge . This is the third one I did on this subject. The first......I threw that one out. The second one wasn't much better. I'm a lot happier with the results of this one but I think I still want to do a few things to it. It was definately a learning experience. |

| Brian - Wow - really really nice. I love the detail etc. Your reflections in the water are well done. In fact, I think your painting outdoes the actual picture. Well done. |

| Whew! Finally finished this one. Man this really was a challenge for me! Like Nancie though I stuck with it. It's amazing to see how different people interpret and paint the same photo. I think in the future we should have challenges that are not so time consuming. Just something that every should be able to do in a day. For some of us that's all the time we have between work and other obligations. Anyway, some very nice work here. Sorry more people did not participate and get the chance to put up their versions. |

Everyone's work is wonderful! Maggie, I love your colors - so warm. Brian, yours has a sort of European Renaissance flair to it. It's wonderful. And Jim, your lines! They are so bold, so definite. It adds so much character. It is so interesting how we each see it differently. In either what we put in that is "extra" (not in the photo) or what we leave out from the photo.
I agree that this challenge was a bit tough, but I learned from it too. Usually I am caught in the details and the lines - this time, I dealt with the shapes. All in all, I looked at it as a very good exercise. Thanks Brian!
Who selects for #3? (I can't remember who volunteered). I'll be glad to select for the following one (#4) - hopefully there is still a group who want to do this.

The day isn't over Jim. Maybe some others will turn up. Well done. Brian you painting looks huge. It appears to be on a very big canvas. How big is it? I like the way you handled the water.
This was a tough picture to do. It had just about every obstical imaginable, at least for me. I think I could have used two more weeks on this one. I hope the next challenge is easier. Like Jim said, we all have other challenges during our days. It's on 11x14 canvas board. Kathy
