20X16 Oil on Board
From the Wet Canvas Reference Image Library.
I like it, but I wonder if others will find it too moody?

| Very nice. You feel the quietness of the streets. I love the shine from the window... it makes the picture. |

I don't find it moody, I think it gives off a mood to me of just waking up. Ready for another day in the city. You've been finding some good stuff at wet canvas Bill! |

| Bill, not too moody at all; of course I love the extremes of the colors and your manner by which you paint, utilizing highlights. This is another good one from you. |

You've been finding some good stuff at wet canvas Yes, for sure, Jim. There are some excellent fotogs on W/C. I can waste hours browing thru that beautiful photography and now and then I see something like this that says "Paint me!"

| I want to walk down the street, and look up into the window with the light. It's like a beacon. Very nice painting. |

Hi Bill, It's a very pleasing blend of your blues and the browns you used in earlier portraits. I like your selections of photos from Wet Canvas. I've spent a lot of time there but find it overwhelming. I like the challenges there because they give you a narrowed down choice. It's kind of like saying "Here! Paint this." I guess on my report card as an artist were it says Works well on her own, I would get a D. Kathy |

I love the colors in this painting. My favorite spot is the little character walking far away. Hugs Lona www.snowartist.blogspot.com |

| Very nice. I have to paint a building after seeing this. I think i need to learn more about perspective before i begin. |

think i need to learn more about perspective before i begin. Yes. The drawing here looks casaul, but I spent hours sketching this before applying any paint. Getting the proportions and perspective down before applying paint allows me to let the paint fly!

| Hey Bill, Nice job but I think that the buildings on the left as you face the canvas seem to be leaning like the leaning tower of Pizza. Is this just an illusion? |

I think the leaning buildings are from copying a photograph. Photographs have 3 point perspective. That includes that the upward distance mergers like the railroad tracks going to the horizon in the distance. Or the house that mergers from the center to ends. Hope that makes sense. I usually keep my vertical lines straight with the sides of the canvas like I have to do with Challenge #2. Kathy |
