I think this is a great idea.  It might be just what I need to get my crativity going again and to actually begin to paint again!  I hope I can do a picture this time, but Brian's photo is a big challenge for me.  But I am going to try.

Hi CTBarb & welcome! Brians photo was last weeks challenge (and it was a tough one, for sure) - look for Challenge #3, a wonderful photo from Leon that we are all working on. The challenges can be tough, but it's like taking an art class together each week. I know I'm learning things, I"m sure the others are too. And yes, it is time to begin to paint again!! I look forward to seeing your work. - Nan

Hi Nan,

Thanks for the welcome.  I guess I am confused.  I am new to forums.  In my string of responses I don't have Leon's picture.  how do I see it?

I am going to go out and buy some smaller canvases and start trying to do this!! Looks like fun! What is a good "challenge-sized" canvas?

BaliTiger - the size canvas is probably different for each person. Some people are uncomfortable with a large canvas, others may find a small one too confining - prefering a larger one for broader strokes. It's really up to you, what you feel comfortable with. For the challenges, I've been using 8x10 or 9x12, the smaller ones. Less area to paint, but your detail has to be more condensed. A week to do a painting can be tough, depending on the image that is chosen. Welcome to the challenge, look forward to seeing your work. -Nan
