Hey everyone. They all look great and it was fun to do. Leon, it is all yours after Brian (hope it is a good one too (no pressure!! haha)). Next one I'm going to try (and I mean try) to slow down some and really concentrate. This is much like going to class every week. I actually purchased some canvas boards (which I have never worked on before), so I'm all set for the challenges! Let 'em roll.
Bill - you did a great job. Actually it looks like a soft pastel painting. I've always liked your loose type of painting.
Leon - thanks for the note on sanding. I should have wiped it clean when I was working on it but like always, I'm in too much of a hurray and just painted over it. Now it bugs me but too late to fix it. I'm sure no one else would even notice but I will sand next time.

| I know I'm late. I didn't start this one til Saturday. Oh well since it's done I thought I would put it up anyway. It's in watercolor on 11 X 14 Strathmore 140 lbs cold press. I'm not a landscape person so this really was a challenge for me. |

I don't know why you would think you're not a landscape person Jim. You certainly are....this turned out beautiful. I think everyone's turned out great. Well, here we go. Is everyone ready for the next challenge. I thought I post one that would really challenge everyone including myself. Hey, no one said it was going to be easy so don't cuss me out too much. Here it is......have fun. Brian |

By the way. I got the image from the image library on wet canvas if anyone wants to see a larger image. It was under France. I just printed this one out on my printer and it comes out 8x10.

Brian, you are cruel but I'm up for the challenge. Great Picture! I think I'm look more forward to seeing everyone else's version, than thinking what mine is going to look like. Should be interesting. (smile*)
Jim - beautifully done. I love the sillouette of the trees to the background. Quite dramatic.

Jim - lots of character in that watercolor. Brian, I might have known you'd have some water in the picture. Do you think we should start a new thread for the new painting?

Brian I'm looking forward to this challenge. Bill, I agree about another thread. It could get awfully out of hand over the months ahead. Maybe the administrator could just set us up under Medias and call it "Weekly challenge" then each challenge could be set up within it. It would be easier to find the thread if they were numbered 1, 2, 3 with a short name following. Or maybe date with a short name. This idea needs others input. Kathy

Hi Bill, Kassie and all. Suggest, we can just start another thread here and if it continues over a month, then maybe the Admin can start a forum on it. How does this sound?
Checked out the WetCanvas and there are tons of great pictures. Thanks for the heads up.

I think starting another thread here would be fine for now. We'd probably have to title it weekly challenge #2,3,4 and so on so everyone would be able to easily find it. Brian |

Starting another thread is a great idea. It would make it easier for us to navigate the forum and do justice to the people who are posting (but not participating) in the challenge. Brian your picture is tough, i almost thought about sitting this one out but i am ready for the challenge and need the practice. |

Weekly Challenge #2 thread has been started..... The Challenge is on!
Priti - don't even think about stepping aside, we need you too... I thought your picture was hard and I'm sure it doesn't get any easier from here - haha

Holly, the administrator, suggest sending her the pics by e-mail and then she'll keep them in order. I guess that would prevent getting pictures overlapping. I'm going to start the second challenge tomorrow. Looking forward to seeinging everyone's input. Oh Yes, and I forgot to tell you, I enjoyed the good paintings produced by those who did the first challenge. Kathy |

It's up to you and the other forum members how you want to handle this. If people prefer to post their own photos, that's fine. I'm just trying to be an enabler.

I'm confused, Kassie. I thought Bpier had already posted this week's challenge. It's further up on this thread and then reposted one this new thread: Home/tabid/53/forumid/12/postid/37618/view/topic/Default.aspx.

Hello Everyone. Returned from vacation on Saturday, saw the challenge and thought I would give it a try. This was extremely difficult for me as it usually takes me weeks if not months to do a painting.
This is an 11" x 14" (smallest canvas I had) Oil.
I like everyones take on this. Quite interesting to see the differences.
Sorry, I'm in so late.

Ron - what a great rendition. I love the softness in your painting, and the reflections. Don't worry about being late, hope the vacation was good. Now you've got to start Challenge #2!

Thank you all for your kind comments. Unfortunately, I won't be able to participate in Challenge #2. Maybe I can be on time for #3.
Thanks again, Ron |
