Any medium, any size Nancie.
Let's make this a big success!
I've already copied the larger size and will probably crop
it down to the bridge and water and see how that looks.
Have fun everyone!

All the best,
Jim

Terrific idea, Magi. And so glad you posted a photo to get things going, Priti. I gave your weekly challenge a little publicity on the "Forum News" forum.

Well, it looks like I'm the first to post a painting. It's 10x10" oil on canvas. Can't wait to see the rest of them.

wow - brian - this is great. Obviously painting in one week is not too much of a challenge! Love the colours.
I can't wait to see all the different variations of the same picture.

I have plans this weekend which will not give me time to paint on this further, so I offer up my rendition now. This is acrylic, 8x10 on stretched canvas. I can't wait to see everyone's version. Thanks for this idea & challenge. I totally enjoyed it!! -Nan

Hi Everyone,

I almost passed this week by as several days lapsed before I could get started on this.  It is 12x16, oil on gesso'd hardboard panel.

Hi - You guys are great. Interesting how we all see the same picture.   Leon - love your use of pink - is absolutely a great idea.   Also the way you opened it up in front of the water.  Nancy - yours is soft and calming, I really like your trees - almost a whisper in the background. Well, here is mine.  You have to know I am not a landscape painter but I love the challenge.  I felt that since we had to do this in one week - the paint went on immediately and then I had a bit of a mess.... but I think I saved it.  Gotta slow down a bit.  Looking forward to our next challenge - Brian.

Maggie - interesting that you saw soft and calming in my version, as it has been one of the most stressful weeks I've had at the job. I see art as an escape, and I guess my sanctuary is soft & calming!

I love all the different versions so far - can't wait to see the rest. It is so interesting how our "eye" is so different, even tho we all have the same view! -Nan

Wow, these all turned out nice. I can't wait to see the rest........and Nancie, you don't need to paint on yours further. Love the colors you used Leon and Maggie, you do a pretty good job for not being a landscape painter.

I just got around to reading this thread yesterday. What a fun idea! I painted this before running off to my monthly art society meeting (What else?). This is oil on gessoed hardboard, 10 x 8. Everyone's pictures look fabulous!

Wow, everyone is doing some fantastic work! Interesting how different versions can come from one photo. Is it too late to do this? Or are you starting a new one?

The variety here is wonderful.

I saw this as a misty spring morning with that grass trying to peek out for the first time this season.

you guys are great! I've started over twice and still fussing. I've been looking on yours for inspiration. They are all so very nice. Priti, I love all the colors you used!

Hi Maggie and Everyone Else,

This challenge has been fun and thank you Maggie for the suggestion. I believe that Brian is coming up with the next challenge photo and if you would like I would be glad to do the one after that. It has been fun admiring everyone’s work. Brian, there is a contrast in your painting that reminds me of seeing the softness and green of nature on one hand only to see juxtaposed to it the starkness of the forest after a raging fire. Nancie, I like the way you treated the reflections in your water and the softness of your foreground. Maggie, you are a landscape artist. I really like the way you treated your sky, the grasses in the foreground and your log. Your rendition of the bridge is quite good. JAlide, it is interesting how you pull ones eye into the center of the painting and hold it there. Priti, it is great seeing the work of a colorist. Bill, your misty morning is lovely.

Maggie, in answer to your question on another thread about ghost lines, I lightly sand the canvas smooth so that I don’t have that problem. If the canvas is still wet then I scrub it vigorously with a cloth.
