I was watching a performance of a symphony orchestra and they zoomed in on this scene.  I had my digital camera at my side and snapped a picture.  From this picture, I painted the picture here with many modifications such as darkening the surrounding items so that the hand and the tambourine became the center of interest.  How did I do? Since posting, I have darkened the drum sticks, the two round soft balls below the tambourine and added some highlights to the tambourine. I didn't show too much detail of the tambouring as I wanted to give a feeling of motion. I have aslo added so indication of music on the music sheet in front on the lower right side. I'll add a new Photo as soon as I get the right light to make the photo. Thank you all for looking. Here is my corrected version of this painting. What do you think of the changes?

This looks wonderful! I love the detail of the score being visible on the sheet music. The hand looks very realistic. Placing the tambourine at the upper edge of the piece gives it an artsy style. I have only one suggestion, since your main focus is to be the tambourine, try softening the brightness of the shirt front and adding a highlight to the tambourine skin to draw the eye immediately to that part of the canvas.
What a great idea you had with the camera zoom! Good job in using it.

Hi Phil,
Great idea. The hands have good color. I agree with jAlida about the shirt front. I can almost hear the tinkle of the tambourine.

I agree that this is a great subject and that you've captured it well. Nice piece.

Love this! The 'warming' of the colors brought this right to life.
Nice work!
