Oil on board

6X8

I wanted to work on  painting hands and found this picture.

The picture was expressive, I thought

As always your painting is fine. But this rendition gives me an eerie feeling.

I agree with Kassie. Also, for some reason, one hand looks fatter than the other.

I've always admired your style, and this does not
change that opinion.

All the best,

Thanks everyone for looking and commenting.
The range of reaction to this picture has been pretty wide. Some have seen a bird in flight, some see it as eerie, some as spiritual, some uplifting, some have seen hope.. others desperation.
One saw the catch that Plaxico Burress made for the Giants to defeat the Patriots in the Super Bowl.
As for me.. as I was painting it, I was thinking of that emotional scene from the classic TV series, "Roots", where the father holds up up his newborn child.
Aside from our eyes and mouths, our hands are our most expressive features, I think.

The visual image of a painting means nothing in of itself until a viewer sees it and gives it meaning. And so, these hands are just hands. But for me, I see two very interesting hands uplifte to the sky seeking the meaning of it all.
