This has been a long hard fight on this one for me... I am trying to work towards John S. Sargent in technique. Very scary for me... soooo what do you all think?

| Richly done. Definitely reminiscent of a Sargent aristocrat. |

| A lovely portrait and you did the gown so well. I think that the flesh tones are a little too pink which may just be the photo and not the painting. I would add a little yellow ochre to the mix, but I can only guess since I haven't seen the subject. All and all it is a very nice painting in a classical style. I like the square format that you have chosen. |

I like every portrait you have posted so far on the forum. I like your soft style and "thoughtful/dreamyl" looking subjects. Do you paint them from photographs or real life? How do you decide on the backgrounds?

thank you all... This is a large one... 57" x 57". This was inspired by Sargent's Mrs. Sears painting... I took photographs of Mrs. Wagner and then projected it on the canvas... the background idea came from just trying something new... I wanted this to look as simple, yet very rich and upscale that I could without adding props... The colors look off on what I have posted here. . . her skin tone is very cool and I wanted to warm it up... I will take some more photos of it and post closer images of it.
Again, Thanks so much for your words of encouragement! |

| How elegant and rich looking! The fabric folds and reflections are lovely! I can hear the rustling of the skirt in my mind. |
