16x20 on board

Trying to work a little looser.  Used a palette knife to keep from being too restrictive.  I hope I have been successful in conveying some of the energy of this kid.  Thank you for looking and commenting.

You captured the action. I like how spontaneous it looks

Your technique with the palette knife is very good, and you did a great job with the figure. I like the way he is jumping out of the picture plane. I think a greater variety in color would give this piece even more energy. The strong horizontal (nearly horizontal) lines tend to take my eye off the canvas. Diagonal lines are always more energized than horizontal and vertical lines. Just some thoughts - take them or leave them! -Krista

Thanks for the suggestions, Krista.

Looking at it here I tend to agree with you about the color--it seems pretty red and black. I will probably try to go back in. Although there is quite a bit of blue in the dark areas and some bright blues and yellows on the skateboard and on his shirt that don't show up here in the photo--certainly the building and brick walk could use some work. Not sure how to modify the strong horizontals--I might be able to pull them up on more of a diagonal towards the top right. I'll play with it.

Thanks so much for your input! Caryn
