Oil on Board

24X18

This is a variation on a  seascape I did sometime ago, this time seeking to emphasize the trees.

How does it look?

The beauty is in the simplicity.  I love your loose style--especially the rendering on the trees.  Lovely.  Caryn

The trees are OK. But this is a lot of blue.

Wow, I get a real feeling of loneliness looking at this. I love painting that give you feelings!

Thanks, Kassie, Caryn, and Lona for looking and commenting

Lona - The isloation inherent in the scene is what appealed to me and I kept removing things till the trees were even more isolated. Loneliness and independence are closely related and I was trying to recollect both here.

But this is a lot of blue.

Kassie ... Yes, it is! The people who make blue paint have been rejoicing over the past several paintings I've done.
My camera seems to like blue also.. this one has a lot more viridian and violet in it than shows in the pic, but let's face it.. it's blue!

Bill, I find myself staring at this and enjoying every second. I love everything about it.

This is beautiful.  I love the trees.  Also the blue is wonderful and handled in a way that keeps it from being overwhelming.  You achieved a lot of depth in this piece.  I especially like the atmospheric feeling in the sky.  It feels like someplace I would love to be.

Hey Bill,
Did you buy out a warehouse full of blue paint? There are other colors available. The scene, in its simplicity is lovely. I would darken the water and maybe add a little green to it. I would also soften the horizon. The sky could use a little alizarin crimson at the horizon.
Hope I'm not injecting my style into yours. Your compositions are usually very good.
